Hmmm...I was going to submit an entry, but I'm wondering what type of commitment I'd be agreeing to after reading their "terms and conditions" of registering with Ancestry.com. It sorta sounds like you're signing up for an Ancestry subscription.

Dee, in registering with them you are merely getting a user name and password, not committing to a subscription. In this case you are also registering for an entry in their sweepstakes. It isn't a subscription to their services until you enter a credit card number and/or agree to their conditions for a free trial period. If you don't give them a credit card they can't charge it. The benefits of registering (other than the possible sweepstakes entry) - being able to use some of the free, interactive resources on Ancestry, such as the message boards, creating a family tree, etc. The difference is the word "registration" vs the word "subscription." As in all things online, be sure to always read the fine print.

Thanks Cyndi. I figured that had to be the case, but thought it best to check first.
